Flexible PCB Structures We Support

Each FPC project is reviewed as a complete mechanical and electrical construction. Layer count alone does not define flexibility, thickness, connector fit, or production risk.

Single-Sided FPC

What Affects an FPC Quotation and Schedule?

An FPC quotation is not based on board size and quantity alone. The design package, construction, material choices, tolerances, testing, and delivery requirements all affect engineering review and production planning. Exact cost and schedule are confirmed only after the available files have been reviewed.

Construction and Materials

Layer count, copper type, coverlay, adhesive system, stiffener material, finished thickness, and surface finish influence material selection and process planning.

Geometry and Tolerances

Fine traces, dense coverlay openings, narrow outlines, controlled connector thickness, small bend areas, and tight dimensional tolerances may require additional review.

Quantity and Panel Planning

Prototype, engineering-sample, and batch quantities can require different panel layouts, tooling decisions, inspection scopes, and packaging methods.

Testing and Delivery Requirements

Electrical testing, dimensional reports, special packing, staged delivery, and urgent targets should be stated before quotation so the scope can be evaluated correctly.

When Gerber Files Are Missing

Photos and measurements can support an initial discussion, but they normally do not contain enough information to reproduce an FPC reliably. Trace connections, copper geometry, material construction, plated features, and hidden details may not be visible in photographs.

  • Send clear, straight-on photographs of both sides with a scale reference.
  • Provide the overall outline, connector dimensions, pin count, pitch, and exposed-contact details.
  • Include pin-to-pin continuity or a verified connection map whenever possible.
  • Describe the installed position, bend direction, available space, and mechanical constraints.
  • Share any part number, drawing, damaged sample, or related technical document available.
  • Confirm that the product is customer-owned or that reproduction is properly authorized.

An initial feasibility review can then determine whether file reconstruction, sample analysis, a new design, or a conventional manufacturing quotation is the appropriate next step. Production feasibility and pricing should not be assumed from photographs alone.

Common Information Gaps That Delay Review

Outline Not DefinedA screenshot or product photo does not replace a dimensioned outline. Critical lengths, widths, radii, slots, and connector positions should be identified.
Thickness Not SeparatedOverall FPC thickness and connector-area thickness may be different when stiffeners are used. Both should be stated where they affect fit.
Bend Conditions MissingIndicate whether the FPC is bent once during installation or repeatedly flexed in operation, together with the expected direction and available bend space.
Contact Details UnclearPin count, pitch, contact side, insertion direction, and mating-connector information are important for connector compatibility.
Quantity or Delivery Target MissingProvide prototype and expected batch quantities separately, plus the date or project stage that drives the request.

FPC Manufacturing Questions

Can you quote from a PDF or photograph?

It may be possible to discuss feasibility, but a production quotation normally requires manufacturing data or an agreed reconstruction scope. Missing information must be identified before cost and schedule can be confirmed.

Can prototype and batch quantities be reviewed together?

Yes. List each required quantity separately so prototype needs and later production expectations can be considered during the same review.

Should application details be shared?

Yes. Installation method, bending, temperature exposure, mating parts, assembly process, and reliability expectations help prevent material or construction assumptions.

What happens when the design is not final?

Send the latest files and identify open questions. The project can first be reviewed for missing data, manufacturability risks, and decisions that must be confirmed before quotation.
